Atari premiered their video game Driv3r
(Driver 3) in a San Francisco warehouse,
playing on the car theft theme of the
game. Moving video projection of
the game play scanned around 180' feet of drape
encompassing two sides of the room.
40,000 watts of deep blue light filled the
center of space as shafts of yellow light
streaked the air surrounding game pods built
out of old car doors. At the far end of
the room a DJ was placed atop a car carrier
filled with "stolen" cars and back
lit by a series for moving light fixtures.
Reactions to the event were everything the
producer and client could have wished for.
Apex Arts designed and provided lighting,
audio and video for the event
